Wave Hill Walk-Off

On 23 August 1966, 200 Gurindji stockmen, domestic workers and their families initiated strike action at Wave Hill station in the Northern Territory. After seven-years, a portion of land was returned to the Gurindji people in 1974, followed by tthe passing of the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act in 1976.
