
Uluru leaders warn ‘merely legislated’ voice unacceptable

Leaders who signed the Uluru statement have stepped up their campaign for a guaranteed pathway to a constitutionally enshrined Indigenous voice to government and warn they will strongly oppose an attempt to install a “merely legislated” model.
As federal cabinet prepares to consider a model for an Indigenous voice that will go to the Australian people for consultations, the From the Heart movement seized on the latest comments of Indigenous Australians Minister Ken Wyatt that he wants it enshrined in law, but not in the Constitution, before the next election.
